BOARD OF DIRECTORS CHRIST CHURCH UNITY(FAX) 883-2544 E-MAIL: ccunity@sbcglobal.net Board President's Message
This summer seems to be ripping by, but not any faster than Spirit is stirring at CCU! Your Board has been busy behind the scenes. Norma Vinson’s Long Range Planning Committee has had the opportunity to look at an existing facility in our general area. The facility is still being discussed at this writing, but there seems to be a fair amount of negatives connected. The committee is all in agreement that the right situation will come along if we hold to our vision. A proposal by Marie DeArmon was approved for a brick patio outside the youth entrance. Harry Sparks sponsored the idea to have “Caution, Children At Play” signs at each entrance to our parking lot. These signs are now in place. Our treasurer, Tina McManus, has formed a group of investment astute people to head our new Investment Strategies and Policy Committee. Their responsibility will be to determine our risk tolerance for investments in general and investing our Building and General fund monies. Paul Snider has been hard at work with the building and grounds. The large drain hole in our front yard was excavated and filled with rock and recovered with earth as per City recommendations. All our carpets are going to be steam cleaned by the time this article is published. Many thanks to Conetta Taylor for finding a new contractor that will save us approximately $500.00 per cleaning. Way to go Conetta! We are also having all our air ducts cleaned. Someone mentioned that the ducts might be the final resting place for Noah’s Ark; it has been a while! The sign at the front of the church on Seminole is being rewired and new lights installed. There are many projects around our church that Paul could use some volunteer help with. If you could help, please see Paul. Planning is in full swing for our Fall Fest on September 20. Simone Hite is doing her normal “over the top” job on planning this. She does need more volunteers at this time. You’ll not regret helping with this fun filled event! Pam Brennaman has traded over to the Education chair since she’s involved with youth activities. Richard Svoboda has taken Pam’s place on the L.R.P. Committee. Our insurance carrier has strongly suggested we have a policy in place addressing parental responsibility of our children while at church. Remember to come to the Bonfire at Donna Johnson’s (and my) house on October 26th. I’m almost out of space; as Sue says: Life is good and it just keeps getting better! Love and Blessings, Lyle Johnson Board President
